How Under The Sink Works
Under The Sink is a household hazardous waste collection facility available to people who live in Douglas and Sarpy Counties in Nebraska. The facility is located at 4001 S. 120th Street Omaha, NE 68137.
Many products found in your home are potentially hazardous waste. They contain chemical compounds that can poison, corrode, explode, or ignite when handled improperly. When discarded, they may pose a threat to health, safety and the environment. Look for words on the label like caution, warning, danger and poison.
Under The Sink's Safe Operation Requirements

Material Drop-off
Material that is related to a business, even a home based business, will not be accepted by Under The Sink.

Drop offs and appointments are for Douglas or Sarpy County households only.
Follow our accepted material list found by clicking here.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, material drop off is allowed without an appointment.
An appointment is required for material drop-off on Saturday’s. Call 402-444-sink [7465] or schedule online.
Drop offs and appointments are for one household only. Do not bring neighbor, family, or friend’s material.
Citizens must remain in their car at all times.
Gas cans and other containers cannot be emptied and returned.
Waste materials must be in the trunk or truck bed away from passengers and readily apparent what is being disposed.
Staff instructions must be followed
No containers larger than 5 gallons

ReStore
ReStore is located inside the office entrance and is stocked with the unwanted household chemicals that were dropped off by others that are in good condition for reuse.
Limited to 4 persons at a time.
10 minute time limit.
50 pound limit per person.
4 cans of spray paint per person.
No re-entry on same day.
Last entry time 15 minutes before close.
Staff instructions must be followed.

Latex Paint (cleans up with water)
This paint is not hazardous and when solid may go to the landfill. To view a PDF that contains the instructions to dry the paint out, click here.
Fluorescent bulb, and Compact Fluorescent
For a fee, those bulbs are accepted at Batteries Plus stores.
Rechargeable Batteries
Accepted at Batteries Plus stores. Or find other locations that accept recyclable batteries.
Glues/Adhesives
Once solid, may go to the landfill. You can follow instructions similar to drying out paint by clicking here.
Spray Bottle Cleaning products
May be flushed down the toilet if you are on a municipal sewer system. Only empty one product at a time, flushing between each product.
